About Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole

Bournemouth

View from Hengistbury Head

Standing above the edge of the cliff tops on the East Cliff or West Cliff in Bournemouth, looking out over the 7 mile stretch of sand and beaches laid out beneath from Hengistbury Head in the East to Sandbanks and Studland Bay to the West, one can appreciate the majesty of Bournemouth’s heritage and enduring appeal.

Many of the properties in the town not only afford views of the sea but also offer views of the New Forest to the north, west or east, many with picturesque views over treetops or out towards the National Trust and Dorset country-sides.

Bournemouth Pier

Bournemouth is the focal point of this part of England’s coastline, from Christchurch to Poole, and is the principal, regional economic driver. It is easy to reach. It is under 2 hours by train from London (Waterloo), a similar distance by road via the M3 and M27 and easily accessible by air to either the Bournemouth International or Southampton International Airports.

What further distinguishes the town from others is the independence of spirit amongst its people, their determination to succeed and their desire to maintain the attractions of the Bournemouth lifestyle as well as of its physical fabric and inheritance. Talk to any of the residents and you will find a fierce loyalty to Dorset and the community, and a reluctance to move elsewhere. Most have lived here all their lives and for those who do move away, perhaps as young adults in search of a dream, many return wiser.

Then there are those who arrived the first time on holiday. They came from cities as diverse as London, Liverpool, Manchester and Newcastle. Recognising the benefits of the Bournemouth lifestyle, they moved here for a chance to live life to the full.

There are also those who arrived as students of the well-reputed University who, having completed their studies, decided to stay. In addition to the University, an institution that educates over 12,000 students in its wide offering of undergraduate and post graduate courses, Bournemouth also has a Media School. Combining the highest of academic standards with professional enterprise, the Media School creates a stimulating and supportive environment for study, research and practice. It is the UK’s largest centre for professionally-based higher education for the media and communications industries.

Bournemouth offers style in many different ways: fashion, retail, life, education, recreation and more. The style it offers is rounded, whether it be for the young outdoors and on the beach, or the family with a range of housing and lifestyle options, for other special interest groups, or those whose families are temporarily elsewhere and who are living in the senior echelons of life. The style it offers is complete.
