YOU in the Community

As an established local business, we take an active and passionate interest in supporting our local community. Our support focuses on three core areas: Sport, Kids and the Community. As well as getting involved in company led programmes, our YOUhome team proactively champion individual charities and fund-raising events and we are proud to feature these on our community page.

1. Sport

   YOUhome and sport go hand in hand, as we clearly illustrate across our YOUhome Mini vehicles. We have chosen to focus on supporting young people in sport by sponsoring both the individual and group tournaments.

   We currently sponsor young tennis players at the East Dorset Tennis Club, and we sponsor their Max Tennis School run by a former Davis Cup team coach. Notable player and team successes include winners of the Aegon under 14s Dorset Championships and the under 12s Southbourne Championships.

   Once again we will sponsor the Parkstone Golf Club junior team and the YOUhome Junior Scratch Salver at the Parkstone Junior Open.

   Becky Munro , Rachel Gulwell and Linda Haycox took part in May's Half Marathon Walk in London to raise money for breast cancer causes.  Did you see them in Hyde Park?

   Our own Hannah Bookham and Catherine Hooper took part in the Cancer Research UK Bournemouth “Race for Life” marathon this year on Sunday 19th June, with Hannah posting an impressive time of 32 minutes. As Hannah puts it "The atmosphere was electric and the camaraderie between all that took part was inspirational! A massive well done to everyone who took part in the race!".

2. Kids

   As well as supporting sports programmes locally, YOUhome ranks kids education high up our list of community priorities. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole offers exceptional education opportunities to children and young adults. Our YOUhome website features the local schools situated near to each property we sell.

   This year we are supporting many local school fundraising activities. We have chosen to support the 125th Anniversary celebrations of Talbot Heath School, Bournemouth, reflecting our strong staff links, and the school mission to refurbish the sports pavilion.

3. Community

   YOUhome kicked off 2011 by participating in the “Those who plant trees, plant hope programme”. This annual programme takes place in Potterne Park near Moors Valley and is sponsored by the Evening Echo and East Dorset County Council. Together we planted a 6ft Oak tree alongside Willows, Ash and Holly. YOUhome is proud to play our part in helping to protect our planet and create an enduring leisure space for the community.
