About Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole
Senior Residents
Picture sea breezes, sunshine, beaches, spectacular views, nearby countryside – yet all the services of a modern town, from shopping to entertainment and culture – that is Bournemouth.
Fresh air, no pollution, trees, nature – a sense of calm, an oasis of sensitivity in the maelstrom of life.
Relaxation.
Life, in all its glory, plays out nearby. And I have a choice. I’ve earned it.
I can watch. I can participate. I can have my friends visit me. I enjoy being part of a community.
I can have a cup of coffee at a cafe with friends nearby; I can go off to play golf, bowls, bridge at the club down the road; I can just turn up and introduce myself or I can choose to be there on my own, just to relax, reading, practice my putting, play a hand, or roll the ball. There’s no pressure. I can be myself. I feel a part of the local scene.
This is my reward after decades of the daily drudge. I cannot think of a more compatible place to be than this part of the country. It is why I decided to move here, and it is why I decided to stay.
I don’t want to cut myself off. I can afford the creature comforts of life – and the restaurants here are second to none.
I like being by the sea. I can watch the world at play. I like being able to have my grandchildren to stay with me because they want to come here, to this place, rather than just to visit their grandparent. And I have confidence that, as they grow up, there will be enough to keep them wanting to come here - the sailing, kite-boarding, wind-surfing, water-skiing, tennis, swimming, and in the future, their own kids.
And when they’re not here, I can go with my friends to a concert with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, or to the cinemas, or maybe wander through the gardens and down to the beach.
Life is here. Life is for living. It’s my choice.
