Subtle festive home accessories

With the arrival of the Christmas adverts comes the urge to adorn the banisters with holly, start writing the annual cards and place a suitably festive wreath on the front door. Whilst all of the above could be considered slightly premature we think that the colder evenings are an invitation to start adding warm winter accessories to your home! From throws to candles, preparing for the winter can be a great way to add a seasonal twist to your living areas without prematurely reaching for the tinsel!

For us, the ultimate winter accessory has to be a wood burning stove and this kindling bucket from Garden Trading allows you to keep kindling neat, dry and tidy; perfect for a chilly evenings that require a roaring fire! For more information on this fireside staple simply click on the link below:

Another way to keep your home feeling cosy is by piling your sofas with cushions, quilts and throws. Luxurious faux fur, chunky knit and tartans can add a warm and almost alpine feel to a room and are, of course, great to be surrounded by after a crisp walk! By using these fabrics, you can also add a festive feel to bedrooms to give them an extra cosy atmosphere! John Lewis have a fantastic array of throws and cushions, to view their winter collection click on the link below:

In the bathroom, a subtle hint towards the coming festivities can be achieved by swapping your hand soaps and bubble bath for seasonal alternatives.

A great way to make your home cosy and welcoming is to place small lanterns with tea lights along fireplaces and shelves. Lanterns are a fantastic way to create soft and warm lighting that will enhance that spark of early festivity in your home! These lanterns from Anthropologie is a subtle nod towards Christmas. Using an array of lanterns across a surface with both candles, tea lights and fairy lights creates a soft and understated festive feature. To view the lanterns shown click on the link below:
