For many, the New Year marks a time of new ideas, new goals and a general revamp and here at YOUhome we see January as perfect opportunity to make subtle changes at home that can help you to achieve your resolutions.

For those who hope to plan more the board below is a great way to plan your week; from activities to dinner this board is a simple way to get more organised this year.

Similarly, this weekly planner pad from Paperchase (see below) is perfect for placing on desks and planning the week to come. These are also a great to bring to the office to map out weekly tasks as well as adding a splash of colour to your desktop!  To purchase this table top planner or to browse the full collection simply click on the link below:

For those intent on shedding the Christmas pounds the kitchen is (perhaps strangely) a great place to start! By using jars to present healthier snacks and ingredients and displaying them on your counter top or shelves you can subconsciously promote these healthier choices! Grains and pulses can look great when placed in jars but are also a filling alternative to pasta and rice. By swapping your grab-bag of rice for a pretty jar of bulgur wheat you are making the healthier choice more convenient to make!

If de-cluttering is top of your January wish list then as well as the inevitable black bag and charity bag filled Saturday afternoon creating distinct homes for your belongings is also a great way to de-clutter. Adding shelving, under-bed storage, rails and racks can give you the storage that allows you to keep the things that you want, but also the luxury of being able to find them again. We love this duck egg blue metal storage trunk from Habitat which would sit perfectly at the end of the bed holding extra linens, slippers or books! Another great way to add extra storage is by adding a sideboard. The sideboard is from OKA, Notting Hill and is a fantastic way to add character to a room whilst also providing a great place to store bits and bobs as well as displaying photos, candles and flowers. If your resolution is to simply have a fresh start we think there is no better solution than fresh bed linen. We really love this calm grey bedspread from West Elm (see below), this set comes with pillow cases and can be purchased in an array of calm and natural colours; perfect for installing a clean and fresh element to any bedroom.
