Area guide: Paddington

It is believed the name Paddington came from the old Sussex word ‘pad’ which means ‘pack-hourse’ which prior to modern transport means, was the only way to bring goods into the city. The majority of the land that is now Paddington was originally church land owned by the Bishop of London.

Highlights

Convenience in Paddington is a key factor for many buyers. The Heathrow Express arrives in Paddington station, Paddington also connects London to south west England and Sotuh Wales. It is but a short walk to the West End and Marleybone High Street.

There are many independent shops, cafes and restaurants along Kendal Street and Connaught Street. De Roemer for cashmere and patisserie Cocomaya for chocolate are local favourites.

The central London district of Paddington is conveniently located in Zone 1 nestled between Edgware Road to the east, Bayswater Road to the south and Paddington Green to the north.
