As estate agents in Notting Hill, here at YOUhome we are passionate about interior design and beautiful home décor. A living room is the centre of the home; it is the relaxation room and offers a space for friends and families to come together. Whether you’re entertaining, lounging or snacking on luxurious appetisers, your living room should reflect your personality and creativity while being a calming and clean environment. We have found some of our favourite living room inspirations and listed them below. Happy decorating!

Corner sofa

Corner sofas add a social element to the comfort of your sitting room; the L-shaped placement encourages interaction and conversation. The corner sofa is one of the most comfortable that you can find because of its ample lounging space. We recommend sitting in the right angle with your legs outstretched and reading a good book!

Arm rest table

Optimising space in a living room can be challenging as the room has so many different functions, be it reading, relaxing or conversing. Finding furniture that fits into a compact space can be even more difficult and small coffee tables are often used for this very reason. However, we have found the ultimate piece of furniture to fulfil your coffee table needs. This arm chair table is uber convenient; you can use it to hold your coffee and carrot and hummus for example and the additional side pouch is convenient for your morning paper or tablet.

Window seat

If you are fortunate enough to have a bay window or large windows in your home, a window seat is a great way to take advantage of the natural light and warmth. If your window seat isn’t already built in, take a sofa and push it close to the window, or you could build your own seating area with wood pallets or an ottoman for a more creative feel. Accessorise with fluffy throws and comfy cushions to create the perfect alcove for relaxation.

Bursts of colour

If your general desire is to keep the main décor of your living room neutral, that does not mean that you have to banish colour completely. Compliment the room with small bursts of colour to add an element of personality and fresh design to the space. Flowers, photo frames and art pieces are all great examples.

Bookcases and shelving

Storage is important in any home, and the living room is a great place to make storage a feature. While big bookcases, cabinets and shelving can sometimes take up valuable space, they can become a feature of the room. You can use the storage space to hold photos, plants or art which all add to the homely feel of the room as well as being a practical storage spot.
