Area guide: Artesian Village

There is a distinctly individual feel to this group of four streets bounded by Artesian, Chepstow, Talbot and Ledbury Roads. The community feels tight here, with street parties in the summer, there is an intimacy or an atmosphere that is quite special, even compared with other Notting Hill villages.

Highlights

Beyond its gem of a pub, the Cock and Bottle (about which acquisition rumours abound), Westbourne Grove is on your doorstep and one of the big pluses of living here is having access to one of London's best restaurants, the Ledbury on the eponymous street corner adjacent. Perhaps though, you just might need an umbrella in those rainy winter days when walking to / back from the tube. Rain or shine, it is a very scenic, pleasant walk.

It's pretty, it's peaceful, tree-lined, understated and has a community - not surprisingly, its residents become very attached to this village.

Location

Artesian Village is directly north of Notting Hill Gate and defined by Ledbury and Talbot Roads to the West and North, Westbourne Grove to the south and Chepstow Road to the east.

Local Property

Comprising stucco-fronted, terraced and detached villas, most without any common architectural style despite having all been built within a few years of each other, the houses have their own, not communal, gardens and so attract a strong family-based following.
