Weekend Guide

by Lucy Bryant, Thursday 03 September 2015

In the wake of Carnival the prospect of a weekend post-bank holiday could seem somewhat deflated, however, our Weekend guide should reanimate this (slightly shorter) weekend.

Begin your weekend with a visit to the late night Proms. This Friday will feature young talent performing music and poetry and as the event is free there is no reason not to indulge your ears this weekend!

If Mary, Paul and the Bake Off contestants have inspired you this week then the Cookbook Confidential Festival located at the Southbank Centre featuring last year’s contestant Chetna Makan is not to miss on Saturday. Joining Chetna are a whole host of famous faces, foodies and brands such as Ella’s Kitchen, Marco Pierre White and Gizzi Erskine. At £10 pp, the festival created by Octopus Publishing offers wine tasting, cooking classes, cake decorating and even a session on displaying your food for Instagram, it’s an ideal retreat for foodies.

Finally, what better way to round-off a busy weekend than with a roast and the Admiral Codrington in Chelsea is sure to deliver. This plush pub offers award-winning succulent chicken, juicy beef and tender Iron Age pork accompanied by crispy roast potatoes, buttery veg, Yorkshire pudding and lashings of gravy which are sure to satisfy your Sunday stomach. However, if the mouth-watering food isn’t enough, The Admiral Codrington suggests that you accompany your roast with one of their trademark Bloody Mary’s which seems a sure-fire way to round up the weekend in style!
