Why Kensington Gardens Is One of London’s Finest Green Spaces

One of London’s eight Royal Parks, Kensington Gardens offers far more than its tree-lined walkways. Within its 265 acres lie some of the capital’s most prized attractions:

  • Kensington Palace, home to generations of royalty
  • The charming Orangery Restaurant
  • The Round Pond, Italian Gardens, and peaceful fountains
  • Playgrounds, cafés, and the historic Albert Memorial
  • An ever-changing calendar of world-class art and culture

The Serpentine Galleries: Cultural Icons in the Heart of Kensington

Culture is woven into the landscape here—grand statues, elegant installations, and most notably, The Serpentine Galleries, which sit at the cultural heart of the park.

Each year, the Serpentine Pavilion becomes a centerpiece of London’s summer cultural calendar. Visitors and residents from around the world gather to experience this temporary architectural marvel.

2025 Serpentine Pavilion:  ‘A Capsule in Time’

This year’s Serpentine Pavilion, titled “A Capsule in Time”, is designed by award-winning Bangladeshi architect Marina Tabassum. Located on the grounds of the Serpentine South Gallery, the pavilion reflects Tabassum’s commitment to spiritual and sensory design.

A modular structure with moving glass panels, the Pavilion captures and reflects light and nature from its surroundings. At its core stands a majestic Ginkgo tree, whose leaves will change through the seasons before the Pavilion is dismantled in autumn.

The Pavilion is open daily from 6 June to 26 October 2025, 10 AM to 7 PM—free to the public and not to be missed.

The Serpentine Summer Party: London’s Most Exclusive Event

Kensington Gardens also plays host to the glamorous Serpentine Summer Party, hosted by Serpentine CEO Bettina Korek. Sponsored by global brands such as Goldman Sachs, the event attracts a glittering guest list of patrons, artists, entrepreneurs, and cultural leaders.

This invite-only celebration is one of the hottest tickets in London, and a highlight for art patrons living near the park.
